The King's Speech, castigator la categoria Cel mai bun film, mi se pare ca defineste intr-o oarecare masura esenta si existenta premiilor Oscar, adica e un film accesibil publicului larg, dar cu o tenta de snobism, care gadila orgoliul cinefilului de "elita" prin jocul celor doi actori din rolurile principale, prin imaginile bine alese care subliniaza traiul epocii respective, prin scenariu etc., o drama cu putina istorie, bine-nteles emotionanta, induiosatoare, (usor patetica pentru mine) care se termina intr-o nota pozitiva. Desi, pe durata decernarii premiilor, cineva a glumit spunand ca Colin Firth n-a facut o treaba atat de buna ca "rege" pe cat de buna a fost Helen Mirren ca "regina", acesta a castigat premiul pentru Cel mai bun actor in rol principal. Mie personal mi-a placut mai mult Donnie Brasco - film inspirat dintr-un caz real - pentru personajul lui Al Pacino, Lefty, un barbat care toata viata a aspirat la statutul de gangster, dar care niciodata n-a fost recunoscut "oficial" ca facand parte din Familie, un personaj trist, care e tras in piept si umilit in nenumarate randuri. Recomand ;)

Filmele copilariei mele pentru ca sunt doua din filmele pe care le aveau ai mei pe casete video si pe care le-am vazut de mai multe ori pe cand aveam 5-6 ani fara a intelege mare lucru; si totusi imi placeau. Primul, Bachelor Party, evident despre o petrecere a burlacilor. Credeam ca tatal fetei nu-l place pe viitorul ginere pentru ca nu stia sa joace tenis, nu-ntelegeam de ce baloanele de la petrecere nu erau rotunde si colorate; de ce una din fete nu poate lua un simplu hot-dog de pe tava?, de ce vrea sa moara unul din prietenii mirelui? cum poate o gagica sa faca pishu din picioare?, ce cauta un magarus la party si cum a murit din cauza unor bomboane?, ce inseamna un film 3D? etc. etc.
Al doilea, Top Secret!, despre un cantaret american invitat in Germania pentru a participa la un eveniment. Un film care defineste comicul anilor '80, cu toate subtilitatile, jocurile de cuvinte, scenele discrete din planul secundar, parodierile mai mult decat evidente.
Si ce bine mi-a cazut sa le revad acum, dupa aproape 20 de ani. Foarte misto!

De ce sa vezi Psycho? Doar si pentru faimoasa scena "de la dush". Sau pentru ca Hitchcock e considerat maestrul suspansului. Sau pentru ca a facut in 1960 un thriller psihologic de mare actualitate. Hitchcock sustinea ca nu-i pasa de tema sau mesajul pe care-l transmite un film de-al lui, ci modul in care povestea e "spusa". Psycho a fost realizat dupa un roman (cu acelasi nume) al lui Robert Bloch care, la randul lui, a fost inspirat dintr-un caz real.
Hitchcock a avut indrazneala de a "ucide" un personaj principal in prima parte a filmului si totusi a filmat totul in alb-negru pentru a aplana efectul sangeros al scenei.
Poate fi catalogat un film horror in care vampirii, zombilaii si toti monstri au fost inlocuiti cu unul... uman. Finalul mi se pare extraordinar, cu psihiatrul care explica boala acestui Norman Bates (foarte misto interpretat de Anthony Perkins) si modul in care s-a filmat trecerea de la Norman la Mother. Un must-see, must-have! Genial!

Se pare ca reteta succesului in cinema pentru publicul roman nu consta in a avea un film romanesc premiat la Cannes. Filmul romanesc premiat la Cannes reprezinta doar aperitivul, adica toata lumea e incitata si cauta sa-l vada in avan avan avan-premiera. Iar pentru ca aperitivul e prea mic pentru a satura publicul flamand, se trece la "masa" propriu-zisa, mai exact vizionarea filmului, si cum se intampla in atatea locuri, lumea se napusteste sa apuce cat mai mult si pana la urma ajunge sa se sature cu foarte putin. Eu am mancat incet, cate un pic din toate, si la final am ragait si am zis "Multumesc pentru masa delicioasa". Cum am citit undeva, trebuie sa adaugi si o pastila de rabdare cu un pahar de apa. Sanatace!

Daca va place Gus Van Sant, sigur ati vazut cel putin unul din filmele Paranoid Park, Drugstore Cowboy, Good Will Hunting, Elephant, Gerry sau My Own Private Idaho. Milk e cel mai recent film al sau si chiar e bun. E vorba despre Harvey Milk si viata lui de dupa intrarea in politica; o viata furtunoasa avand in vedere ca a fost primul gay ales intr-o functie publica, adica in consiliul local al San Franciscoului. Cea mai mare surpriza am avut-o din partea lui Sean Penn, cel care a interpretat rolul controversatului personaj, pentru ca nu stiam la ce sa ma astept si nu stiam daca el e cel mai potrivit pentru acest rol. Acum, dupa ce am vazut filmul, ma gandesc ca nu s-ar fi putut gasi un actor mai bun; participarea lui in acest film doar arata lumii (celor sceptici care inca nu s-au lamurit :)) )ca intr-adevar este un actor mare! Bine-nteles ca a luat si Oscarul pentru acest rol. Kudos Sean Penn !!!
Am vazut filmul acum cateva luni bune, dar m-am gandit sa scriu despre el pentru ca nu demult am aflat ca Barrack Obama i-a acordat lui Harvey Milk (pm) The Presidential Medal of Freedom, care se acorda acelor oameni care au adus "an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors."

MIHAI MATEIU s-a născut în 1976 la Tîrgu-Mureş şi de 11 ani trăieşte în Cluj-Napoca. A debutat în 2003 cu două povestiri apărute în revista Tribuna, după care a continuat să publice proză scurtă şi cronici literare. În prezent lucrează la varianta finală a unui roman.
